Favorite Find Friday – Snacks, Crisps

by

Favorite Find Friday2

Hello!  Back with a favorite find….I know it’s been a while.

This is my newest favorite find.  Off the Eaten Path Rice and Veggie Crisps.

I got this 20 ounce bag at Sam’s Club for less than $6

The are are healthy and delicious snack that I and my kids all love.

They are made with rice, green peas, yellow peas and black beans.

They also contain 3 grams of fiber, 3 grams of protein and less the 1 gram of sugars in a 1 ounce serving which is about 15 pieces.  The pieces are a little larger than a half dollar….uh, wait…..I just totally aged myself.  For those of you who remember half dollars, we understand one another!  For, those who don’t know, I’d say about the size of a mini rice cake, only very thin.

They are very crisp and not really flavor packed on first bite, but there’s just something about them that makes you want to eat more!

If you have tried them leave a comment and let me know what you thought.  If you haven’t try to grab a bag and give them a try, unless you can’t eat legumes and then come back and let me know what you thought!  These are GF, DF, Kosher, NF

Happy Gluten Free Snacking.

Favorite Find Friday: Graham Crackers

by

Honey Grahams

It’s been quite a while since I’ve posted any of these Favorite Finds…. This was a good one though.  When I first when gluten free I never used Pamela’s products because she used a lot of almond flour to make her products and since I’m allergic to almonds…..well I didn’t use them.  But, now she has numerous products that are nut free.

If you’ve been looking for a great GF graham cracker I think these are it!  They are not quite as thin and crispy as a traditional gluten graham cracker, but the flavor is amazing and they make a great s’more.  If you haven’t tried them I think you should definitely try them.  They also make a cinnamon one.  I didn’t prefer them, though my kids loved them just as much.  I thought the clove was very strong and I didn’t prefer that.

Do you have a favorite GF graham cracker?

Favorite Find Friday – Crackers

I found these by chance at Walmart and I was delighted, not only at the taste but the price too…$1.48 for 3 ounce bag.  They are very crisp, light and full of flavor, a little spicy.  They also had plain sea salt crackers, I haven’t tried them yet.

I found them on the aisle with the regular crackers.  Check out your own grocery and see if they have them.

I
had my eye on this treat for a while and finally grabbed a box.  They
are definitely a treat $4.99 for a box of three.  It was well worth it.
The were delicious.  The dark chocolate on the outside was crisp with a
very deep dark flavor and the caramel ice cream was divine, so smooth
and creamy.  These bars are Kosher, Vegetarian, Gluten Free, HFCS Free
and Hormone Free!

Favorite Find Friday Gluten Free – Chips (Tortilla-flavored)

by

Late July Organic Mild Green Mojo Multigrain Snack Chips

I purchased these for my husband and kids.  I’m not big on spicy stuff.  I am big on non GMO and no additives and this product is big on both!  They were a bit more than I usually spend for snacks though so it will be a treat we enjoy occasionally.  It was $7 for a 24 oz bag at Costco.

Favorite Find Friday – Gluten Free Chicken Nuggets

by

When my friend, Kelly, told me she had found these at her Costco I was really hoping they had them at my local Costco and I was THRILLED when I found them there.  They are good.  I think they could use a bit more flavor but the texture is good and I cooked them in the toaster oven and they were a little crispy.  It’s not often you can find good, healthy (er) GF fast food.  This is definitely one I will try and keep a bag in the freezer for a quick go to when I need it.

Favorite Find Friday – Snacks (Muffins)

by

I am always on the look out for easy to grab and go snacks.  I do not like to get caught out without the ability to eat something if necessary or worse eat something that may or may not be safe.  So, when I saw these muffins in the clearance section (frozen) and Kroger I grabbed a few packs.  I got them on clearance for $1.  Regular price, I’m assuming, is around $2.  Which is a little pricey, but if you have to choose between something you know is safe to eat, not eating or worse, eating something that’s questionable.  I think that $2 is worth it.

These are sold in the frozen section at my Kroger.  I have tried the zucchini and the chocolate chip.  They are both good.  Another benefit for those of us with food allergies is that they are not only gluten free, they are nut free, soy free and dairy free also!

I would definitely give them a try if you can find them in your area.

Favorite Find Friday – Snacks (Ice Cream Cones)

by

I was so excited when over a year ago I saw an article in Living Without Magazine that Joy Cones were coming out with  gluten free sugar and cake cones.  Every time I went to the store I would scour the shelves looking for them.  I finally just a couple of months ago found them at Publix.  They were only $2.69 for a box of 12, you can imagine my excitement if you’ve ever bought GF cones before, this was roughly half the price I’ve paid before (a rare treat at that price).  I just found them at Kroger recently too, for $2.48.   I’m sure you will share in my excitement when you find them at your local grocery.  Enjoy your ice cream on a cone!!  If you need a good recipe for homemade ice cream you should give this Blueberry Cheesecake Ice Cream a try.

Favorite Find Friday – Snacks (Freeze dried fruit)

by

I’m always looking for easy to grab and go snacks that are healthy and gluten free.  These fit the bill.  They’re not super cheap but when you need something that’s easy to take along so you’re sure you have something “safe” to eat, you don’t really care that they are a little costly.

I use them for trail mix too and that makes them go further.  I found both of these at Walmart.

Favorite Find Friday – Crackers

by

Since going GF saltines are a big miss!  I think that these are the closest thing to saltines that I have found.  They are crisp like a saltine, not quite as salty.  I even used some of these to make a crust for cheesecake.  I didn’t have enough cookies, so I used some of these.  I was very happy with the turnout.  My only complaint is that the are really big and there is no perforation for breaking them, as they are good sized, maybe around 5 inches by 3 inches.  You can break them, but they don’t break evenly, which is frustrating if you want them to look nice.

I can’t eat peanut butter anymore, but if I could I would break them in two, as evenly as possible, spread them with peanut butter and then dip in chocolate for a yummy treat.

I think I’ll write to Glutino and tell them of my love for their crackers and beg for them to perforate them.
